Human, All Too Human is the first book by Nietzsche to use the aphoristic style that would come to characterise the philosopher's most famous and iconic material.
This compact and inexpensive print edition ensures that you can absorb and appreciate these philosophical insights at little expense. His style, combining Nietzsche's vehement brand of argument with keynote nihilistic energy, is evident. Quickfire, furious nature of the points made in some respects foreshadow later works in which these qualities are enhanced still further.
For the clinical yet perceptive style present in this early work, Nietzsche's adherents compare Human, All Too Human to the earliest works of psychology. Throughout the text, Nietzsche examines human traits and behaviours in a series of short passages, presenting a number of posits and philosophic arguments in each. The shortest of these are only a single paragraph, while the longest run for several.
At this point in his life, Nietzsche shied from creating a comprehensive philosophy of his own - instead, he placed most of his energy into ridiculing and debunking the assertions of other, earlier thinkers. Although selling poorly upon its first release, the later recognition Nietzsche gained brought this and other early works into prominence - today, all remain popular and well-discussed in academic and philosophical circles.

"Human, All Too Human" is filled with a variety of well-thought reflections including; the evolution of morals and their effect upon society, religion, the importance of evidence in rational thought, and several other sections sure to arm the reader with clever and witty ways to disarm religious zealots mid discussion, and engage in satisfying conversation with any person who enjoys philosophy.Unfortunately, extracting the gems of wisdom within this "book" is quite a challenge.
The are two reasons why I awarded this book less than the maximum number of stars. First, each sub-section is contained within a "wall of text" which would benefit immensely from paragraph breaks and indents.
Second, the "book" seems to have been enlarged from a previously smaller version. Similar in size to a sheet of notebook paper, the front image looks distorted and blurry. What could have occupied a few pages within a small book instead becomes several inches of crowded sentences.
This book could be reduced to a "pocket novel", reformatted and edited to maintain the integrity and intellectual prowess of Nietzsche while serving a medium easily digested by the average reader. A pleasant format would balance the feelings of annoyance (and rage?) as hipsters started stowing this book on their person.

The book I received contained on 3 of 9 parts of Nietzsche's "Human, All Too Human." The translator is not identified in the book.
Nietzsche is a great philosopher, psychologist and writer.
This is one of my favorite books. I gave 4 stars because it is rather large in size. This is probably my fault for not checking on this but it doesn't fit with the other books on my shelf very well.
This edition contains only roughly 1/3rd of the complete set of aphorisms from "Human, All Too Human." The translator is unidentified and this book appears to be a "print on demand" copy of unknown origin. Buyer beware.
